Full-service construction company offering industrial, commercial, and civil services.
Key duties include loading, transporting, unloading and selecting appropriate cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks and sheaves according to the weight and size of each load. The rigger signals or verbally directs workers engaged in hoisting to ensure the safety of personnel and materials, performs minor maintenance and cleaning of tools, and assists other craft workers as needed.
The Rigger must possess knowledge of complex and heavy rigging, including crane boom and cable changes, electrical, ladder and scaffold safety, lifting machinery, wire rope basics, fire prevention, chokers sizing, load charts, and blueprint reading. Certification from a nationally recognized organization such as NCCER is highly recommended. The rigger must understand all safety hazards associated with the work and be able to safely operate related tools and equipment, whether on a plant operations site or a construction jobsite.
Physical requirements involve the ability to push, pull, lift or carry up to 50 lb regularly (occasionally up to 100 lb), maintain balance on ladders, scaffolds and uneven terrain, and work in various positions such as bending, climbing, or confined spaces, while being exposed to adverse weather. Mentally, the rigger must communicate effectively with supervisors, comprehend and follow written directions, perform basic math calculations, make decisions, and remain detail‑oriented under distractions.
