Engine Rebuild Heavy Equipment Technician (Heavy Duty Mechanic) – Off Road HET (2nd or 3rd year apprentice or Journeyperson) is needed by Sureway Construction, one of Alberta’s largest heavy construction contractors involved in civil earthworks, grading, utilities, offsite work, mine operation and aggregate extraction. The role is based locally in Edmonton.
- Specialty dealer training provided with certification
- Specific manufacturer tooling with software and diagnostics
- Full complement of hand tools
- CSA‑approved steel‑toed boots with 6” ankle support
- Drug and alcohol testing (swab or urine) per site requirements
- Completion of company and site‑specific orientation
- Fitness‑to‑work assessment
- Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician with Red Seal – Off Road or equivalent (or 3rd‑year HDM apprentice in good standing)
- 5‑10 years HET journeyperson experience, including off‑road HDM experience
- Experience with CAT E.T. and S.I.S. and/or Komatsu components (required)
- Experience with CAT scrapers (beneficial)
- Ability to read, troubleshoot and diagnose hydraulic and electronic schematics
- Exceptional organization and cleanliness skills
Benefits
The position is full‑time and permanent, with a day shift of 10+ hours, a 5‑day workweek plus a 2‑day rotation, and overtime after eight hours per day or 44 hours per week. Work is performed at the Sureway shop located at 9175 – 14 Street NW, Edmonton, AB.
