Scheduling Engineer

Description

The Scheduler will develop, revise, and track detailed schedules for large or multiple smaller construction projects with complex scheduling requirements. Responsibilities include collaborating with engineers, superintendents, procurement, and VDC teams to create CPM-based baseline schedules, monitor critical-path activities, and produce progress updates and recovery strategies. The role also involves stakeholder communication, schedule impact analysis for change orders, and providing training to end‑users on scheduling software.

• Develop and maintain CPM-based project schedules using Primavera P6.
• Review and update work breakdown structures and integrate contract item lists.
• Coordinate with engineers, superintendents, procurement, and VDC teams to align schedule and model data.
• Define schedule metrics, monitor critical path activities, and produce look‑ahead and recovery plans.
• Conduct site progress walks, capture data, and generate regular scheduling reports for stakeholders.
• Incorporate Last Planner System and Pull Plan updates into the master schedule.
• Analyze change orders and perform schedule impact assessments.
• Provide training and support to end‑users on scheduling software.
• Assist business development and marketing teams with proposal scheduling deliverables.
• Apply continuous‑improvement methods to scheduling processes.

Requirements

The position requires physical abilities such as climbing stairs and ladders, handling tools, and occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds, as well as frequent use of a computer for schedule development and reporting. Work environments range from active construction sites with exposure to noise, fumes, and varying weather conditions to office or remote settings, with adherence to safety policies throughout.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field.
• Minimum 4 years experience on large construction projects (> $50M).
• Background in field engineering, assistant superintendent or similar roles.
• Proficiency with Oracle Primavera P6 and scheduling comparison tools (e.g., Acumen Fuse).
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, contracts, estimating and earned value.
• Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and develop accurate schedules.
• Excellent analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with continuous‑improvement and Lean scheduling practices.
