Our Blind River location is seeking a General Manager to lead facility operations, set strategic direction and promote a professional corporate image while ensuring safe and efficient performance. The role involves planning, organizing, controlling and directing activities to meet objectives, maintaining high production standards, and supporting business expansion.
The General Manager will oversee Facility, Sales, Administrative and Maintenance managers, build a productive workforce through hiring, training and evaluation, and enforce wage, hour and appearance standards. They will ensure safe working conditions, implement safety and accident‑prevention programs, and manage collection routing, preventive maintenance, and container repair operations.
Financial responsibilities include developing cost‑control measures, conducting profitability analyses, using purchase order systems, billing services promptly, reviewing monthly profit and loss statements, and establishing pricing guidelines. The manager will also drive a strong customer focus, guide the sales force, identify growth opportunities, monitor market trends, negotiate contracts, and represent the company in civic affairs.
Candidates must have post‑secondary education, a proven track record in operational management, and preferably five years of waste‑industry experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent leadership, communication and management skills are essential, along with the ability to interpret safety documents and travel as needed.
Physical requirements include the ability to stand, sit, walk, lift up to 10 lb regularly (20 lb occasionally), and perform typical office tasks. Work is primarily in an indoor office environment with occasional exposure to harsh outdoor weather and moderate noise levels.
