Description

The Technical Field Advisor (Turbine and Generator) is the on‑site technical specialist responsible for supporting the installation and commissioning of hydroelectric power projects. This role ensures that mechanical and overall works are executed in accordance with design specifications, technical standards, quality requirements, and health and safety regulations. The advisor prepares, directs, and controls all phases of field operations to guarantee safe, high‑quality execution that meets schedule and budget targets. Working closely with the Site Manager, they provide day‑to‑day technical guidance, monitor critical installation processes such as turbine and generator alignment, bearing installation, and shaft coupling, and ensure compliance with design, codes, standards, and OEM requirements. They also support inspections, resolve technical non‑conformances, and coordinate specialized subcontractors while maintaining environmental and regulatory compliance.

• Ensure EHS compliance; stop work if hazards are not mitigated.
• Lead daily technical guidance for on‑site construction teams.
• Monitor critical installation tasks such as turbine/generator alignment, bearing installation, shaft coupling, and heavy lifts.
• Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, procedures, and OEM requirements.
• Conduct inspections and quality checks (alignment, welding, grouting) and resolve non‑conformances.
• Coordinate specialized subcontractors and validate test results.
• Support constructability reviews and propose solutions to technical and logistical constraints.
• Prepare as‑built documentation and O&M handover packages.
• Provide regular updates on technical issues, risks, and progress to project leadership.
• Participate in risk assessments, method statements, and safety analyses for high‑risk activities.
• Implement environmental protection measures and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Lead, motivate, and empower labor teams while promoting a strong safety culture.
• Perform root‑cause analysis of construction issues and recommend design optimizations.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, civil engineering or an equivalent technical diploma, with at least five years of experience on hydroelectric generator projects, preferably in a supervisory capacity. Strong technical knowledge of hydro plant systems, mechanical installation of shaft lines, turbines or generators, and proficiency with MS Office and computer tools are required. Leadership, problem‑solving, and excellent communication skills are essential for motivating teams, making decisions on‑site, and collaborating with multidisciplinary stakeholders.

• Minimum 5 years experience with hydroelectric generators in a supervisory role.
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or civil engineering (or equivalent technical diploma).
• Strong computer and MS Office proficiency; ability to read manuals and drawings.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for multidisciplinary teamwork.
