The position is based in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, Texas. The Field Operations Lead is responsible for leading and coordinating onsite inspection and maintenance activities for a group of Electric Utility Construction Inspectors. The role requires adherence to core values while navigating complex challenges, diverse personalities, client expectations, and multiple project stakeholders. It also involves ensuring a healthy work‑life balance for field employees and delivering safe, high‑quality services that meet customer requirements and drive overall project success.
Leadership and team management include overseeing field personnel such as Field Construction Coordinators, Inspectors, and maintenance staff. The Lead holds the team accountable professionally and fosters a collaborative environment aligned with company values. Weekly one‑on‑one meetings are held to monitor progress, address challenges, and provide coaching through the Performance Management program. Resources, technology, and information are supplied to enable every team member to succeed on their assignments.
Project oversight involves creating and executing staffing plans that ensure the right personnel are assigned to client construction projects at the appropriate times. Assignments are made based on project scope and resource availability, while aligning field operations with internal policies, client expectations, and reporting requirements. This includes managing expenses, per diems, safety protocols, training, and other operational guidelines.
The Lead identifies knowledge gaps within the team and collaborates with the Principle Services University to develop targeted training plans. Training covers best practices, compliance, and operational procedures, helping team members grow and improve their performance.
Effective coordination between internal and external parties is essential for seamless project execution. The Lead proactively identifies and resolves project challenges to minimize impact on construction efforts, working closely with the project team and senior management to devise solutions.
On‑site support is provided as needed to assist field operations, staff, and contractors. All field activities must comply with company policies, regulations, and legal requirements, and the Lead ensures proper documentation and reporting of these activities.
In the planning and reporting domain, the Lead advises project controls on constructability, scheduling, and budget considerations. They review and approve status reports from field personnel and contribute insights during planning meetings on proposals and resource allocation.
Recruitment responsibilities include assisting in sourcing qualified field personnel to meet project demands. The Lead also ensures company policies support field employees while upholding the organization’s values and culture, maintaining high engagement and performance levels.
A bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred, along with ten to twelve years of experience in transmission and distribution field operations or a similar role. Candidates must possess strong knowledge of construction management best practices, inspection procedures, safety regulations, and the ability to develop and enforce standards and training programs. Proficiency in project scheduling, budgeting, Microsoft Office, and excellent communication skills are also required.
The role demands a good driving record and the ability to travel long distances to project sites, with frequent travel to client offices and sites. An assigned company vehicle is equipped with telematics and cameras to support coaching and compliance with driving policies. Safety is a core commitment throughout all work activities.
