The General Superintendent leads all foundation efforts, guaranteeing that projects meet safety, design, budget, and schedule requirements while serving as a liaison among departments, employees, contractors, and external agencies.
Daily responsibilities include managing field operations, scheduling labor, coordinating material deliveries, communicating with subcontractors, owners, and site engineers, and ensuring timely completion of timecards, logs, estimates, and reports. The role also oversees crew mobilization, enforces OSHA and company safety standards, documents safety issues, inspects work and materials for quality compliance, and controls costs using HCSS Heavy Job Software while monitoring change orders and extra work.
Candidates must have at least ten years of superintendent experience in foundation construction, possess certifications such as HAZWOPER, OSHA 10‑hour and 30‑hour, Confined Space, and CPR/First Aid, and be proficient with Microsoft Office, iPad, and iPhone. Strong abilities to read and interpret plans, policies, and technical documents, communicate effectively, and apply mathematical concepts to field quantities are essential.
Preferred qualifications include familiarity with the HCSS Software Suite and experience supervising foundation superintendents and foremen, leading safety initiatives, hiring, training, and conducting performance evaluations and disciplinary actions in accordance with company policies.
Applicants must pass a pre‑employment drug test and background check, hold a valid driver’s license with a satisfactory motor vehicle record, be at least 18 years old, and be willing to travel 75‑100% of the time. The position involves significant physical demands, frequent exposure to construction site hazards, variable weather conditions, and the use of personal protective equipment.
Compensation ranges from $120,000 to $135,000 annually, with the exact rate varying by location, experience, and skill set. Union craft workers receive additional benefits such as a 401(k) plan and an Employee Assistance Program, subject to collective bargaining agreements.
