  • Use and instruct others to properly use Total Stations, Data Collector, GNSS, and other specialized survey equipment to collect data.
  • Adhere to corporate and client Health and Safety program(s) and all applicable SOPs.
  • Prepare or receive from the PM, the Health, and Safety Checklists. Review and instruct other crew personnel on all safety hazards, PPE, etc. associated with the work being performed.
  • Maintain, transport, and operate the instruments and equipment associated with surveying land and preparing the job site for a survey.
  • Prepare accurate, detailed field notes and reports of daily activity in a timely manner.
  • This position may include work as a leader of one, two or three-person crews.
  • Mentor field survey staff to facilitate advancement.
  • Prepare cut sheets for construction assignments as needed. Review and determine the validity of data collection.
  • Plan and perform an increased variety of field surveys within the defined project scope and budget, using the most efficient methods, and in accordance with applicable standards of practice.
  • Perform in-field calculations for construction stakeout and various land surveys with moderate assistance from office support team.
  • Interact with project site supervisors and client field representatives.
  • Operate and maintain the survey vehicle in accordance with the Company vehicle manual.
  • Survey projects include design surveys, right-of-way surveys, topographic surveys, aerial ground control, boundary and ALTA/NSPS surveys.
  • May supervise and direct other survey crew members.
  • Electronically transfer field data files, photos and associated forms to office team daily.

  • High school diploma/GED is required.
  • Prior crew chief experience is a plus.
  • Experience with or the ability to learn the use of 3D scanners.
  • Demonstrate initiative in analyzing and developing solutions to issues encountered on projects.
  • Candidates must be proficient with data collectors, data collection techniques, robotic instruments, conventional field note-keeping, total stations and leveling.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record required. MVR will be checked and monitored.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
