The M/E Engineer 2 will perform routine mechanical, electrical, and field construction activities, collect and assemble data, assist in developing estimates, and help generate systems and bid analysis. All work supports JE Dunn’s strategy, vision, and values.
- Participate actively in safety and quality plans, mentoring others toward an injury‑free environment.
- Complete entry‑level and routine mechanical, electrical, and field construction activities.
- Develop budgetary M/E estimates using automated estimating systems based on program and schematic designs.
- Review mechanical and electrical options during preconstruction and conduct systems analysis for select projects.
- Develop mechanical and electrical scopes of work for bid coordination.
- Assist in bid analysis and provide input during subcontractor selection.
- Develop sequencing requirements for various systems and propose schedule solutions.
- Identify potential quality issues in design documents and contribute to constructability review reports.
- Perform job inspections to ensure specifications are met and work is completed timely and with quality.
- Assist with shop drawing and submittal processes to ensure contract compliance.
- Support commissioning by creating pre‑functional checklists, functional testing procedures, and conducting tests.
- Generate, issue, and execute Commissioning Plans for assigned projects.
- Interact independently with project teams regarding work product deliverables.
- Produce and explain work product to clients, representing JE Dunn professionally.
- Review subcontractor shop drawings and submittals for compliance before design team submission.
- Lead mechanical/electrical coordination processes.
- Participate in all construction phases from startup to closeout for successful project delivery.
- Develop schedules for mechanical/electrical systems.
- Perform site inspections and submit reports to the project team.
- Create constructability reviews and submit findings to the project team.
- Participate in job pursuit presentations representing mechanical/electrical expertise.

- Perform work accurately, completely, and within required timeframes.

- Use basic JE Dunn construction M/E tools and software proficiently.
- Apply knowledge of construction management means and methods.
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, architectural engineering, or a related field (required).
- Consider equivalent relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
- Possess at least 2 years of construction and/or engineering experience (required).
Benefits
The position offers a professional non‑union benefits package, a base salary ranging from $89,018 to $111,272 (adjustable for exceptional experience), and eligibility for a performance‑based bonus.
