Workforce Development Manager

Description

The Workforce Development Manager leads a team of trainers who design, build, facilitate, and deliver both hard‑ and soft‑skill training in on‑site, virtual, or hands‑on settings, and supports onboarding in collaboration with the Safety department and superintendents.

The role involves monitoring trainer performance, developing team members through coaching and assessments, updating onboarding programs, reviewing training materials, and acting as a strategic partner to the business.

Additional duties include organizing and attending local job and career fairs, coordinating recruitment with Marketing and Business Development, engaging with local and national recruitment programs, identifying skill gaps, facilitating regional training initiatives, and staying current on software, technology, and training delivery trends.

• Lead a team of Workforce Development Trainers to design, build, facilitate, and deliver training on policies, safety, software tools, construction methods, and leadership skills.
• Monitor trainer performance, provide coaching, conduct skills assessments, and take corrective actions as needed.
• Oversee employee onboarding program in collaboration with Safety and Superintendents, updating processes when necessary.
• Review and develop training materials such as presentations, handouts, and online resources, acting as a strategic partner to the business.
• Organize and attend local job and career fairs; coordinate recruitment efforts with Marketing and Business Development teams.
• Engage with local and national recruitment programs to attract talent.
• Identify workforce skill gaps through surveys and interviews, recommending training solutions.
• Assess training effectiveness, adjust programs, and stay current with software, technology, and delivery trends.

Requirements

Successful candidates will have knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design, strong leadership and management skills, a Journeyman Wireman certification, excellent communication and public‑speaking abilities, technical proficiency with mobile and Microsoft Office applications, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a changing environment. Construction industry experience is required; management experience is preferred.
