Provides water and wastewater services across East England, focusing on sustainability and innovation.
As a front‑line Technician Apprentice in Anglian Water’s Wastewater (Sewage) team, you will split your time between college study and hands‑on work at operational sites. You will help keep sites and equipment operating safely, reliably and efficiently while supporting the wastewater recycling process that collects, treats and returns water to rivers and seas. The role is practical, outdoor, varied and occasionally challenging, with a supportive team that will develop you into a skilled technician. Once qualified you will join a 24/7 standby rota.
In the role you will inspect, maintain and care for essential assets and equipment, support fault‑finding and respond to issues to keep sites running efficiently, and work alongside experienced mechanical and electrical technicians while following health and safety procedures. You will also take ownership of your development and contribute to team success.
The position is based in Southend and Basildon, starting in August 2026, with a salary of £18,000 that rises to £23,500 in the second year. Candidates must have the right to work in the UK.
We are looking for candidates with GCSEs (or Level 2 Functional Skills) in English, Maths and Science (grades 9‑4/A*‑C), a genuine interest in the water industry, good communication skills and a strong team mindset. You must be willing to work outdoors, learn new skills and obtain a full UK driving licence by the end of the second year (or by the age‑appropriate deadline).
Apprentices receive a dedicated mentor, a full support network, paid holidays, private healthcare, pension, and discounts for gyms and retailers. You will earn nationally recognised qualifications without student debt and work in a welcoming, inclusive environment where you can be yourself.
