Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to resolve design-related queries, recommend alternative solutions, and ensure adherence to quality and performance standards.
Provide technical support throughout the winding assembly manufacturing process, including quality inspections, failure analysis, and tolerance concessions.
Utilize 2D and 3D CAD software to model transformer components and assemblies, supporting the development of precise engineering documentation and BOMs.
Interpret electrical design outputs to create detailed manufacturing drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs) for winding and winding assemblies used in large Power, Auto, and Generator transformers (up to 500 MVA, 550 kV), including sub-assemblies and components.

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
Experience in winding assembly design and insulation components (e.g., spacers, barriers, oil guides, molded pressboard parts).
Understanding of dielectric principles, short-circuit forces, and oil flow mechanisms within windings.
5+ years of experience in transformer electrical design or winding & assembly design.
Familiarity with copper conductor types, including paper-covered strips and CTC (with/without enamel or epoxy).
Willingness to relocate to Charlotte, NC if not already based in the area.
Expertise in designing various winding types (helical, layer, disc, multi-start) for LV, HV, tertiary, and regulating systems in transformers above 100 MVA / 220 kV.
Knowledge of specialized winding processes such as conductor bending, joint formation, enamel removal, block pressing/sizing, gluing, crimping, and brazing.
