Harness opportunities and mitigate risk through effective design and risk mitigation measures during the lifecycle of the design process.
Review of specialist reports on harmonics and selection of equipment to mitigate the harmonics.
Procurement packages for MV works such as distribution transformers, MV switchgear and specialist design services for MV works.
Procurement of packages for LV works such as Main Distribution Boards, MCC’s and control panels, automation hardware/software, starters, electrical installation works, earthing and lightning protection.
Ensuring Health, Safety, Environmental & Sustainability standards, policies and procedures are always adhered to on-site.
Undertake site surveys and preliminary condition reports on existing infrastructure/assets.
For all procurement packages, provide a technical and commercial review of tender returns, ensuring tender returns align to the required standards and demonstrate value for money. Provide a recommendation to procurement.
Work collaboratively with other engineering disciplines in Process, Mechanical, Control & Automation, Civil and Structural to ensure an optimum design solution is reached.
Promote and advocate key themes from Glanua Business Strategy including a move to off-site manufacturing, improved digitalised ways of working and drive towards sustainability.
Ensure Health, Safety, Environmental, Sustainability & Quality standards, policies and procedures are developed into all designs and design outputs.
Reporting to the Electrical Department Manager, design works include the compilation and review of
Management of site personnel and subcontractors ensuring that work is conducted in line with design documentation and in accordance with contract programme.
Procure and manage 3rd party design consultants as required.
Completion of quality checks to ensure works are in line with design outputs and ready for commissioning works.
Review of control panel drawings schematics.
Ensure you are aware of local Asset Standards, Electrical Standards, WIMES, etc and embed requirements of same into respective designs.
Liaise with the relevant employer’s representatives, consultants, subcontractors, site staff, commercial resources and the general site team involved in the project.
Work on assigned projects to manage the delivery of the electrical and installation scope including procurement, installation supervision, commissioning and handover. You may be required to work on more than one project at a time depending on the size and complexity of the projects.
Ensure project is delivered in-line with quality procedures and that all Factory Acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), inspection and test records (ITRs), insulation resistance checks, I/O point-to-point checks, rotation checks and commissioning of the works are completed in-line with the quality plan and Employer’s Requirements.
Keep appraised of the latest standards and technology through continuous professional development (CPD).
With the tendering team, team assist in the preparation and pricing of tender submissions for electrical works.
Generator design and sizing for back-up applications.
Review I/O of listings.
Encourage use of innovative technology and ways of working within the team.
Co-ordination of project close-out stages including handover to the end user. Preparation and submission of project handover files including as-built drawings and control panel drawings schematics post-commissioning incorporating any changes made during the installation phase.
Electrical load balances, MIC load calculations.
Ensuring design, materials and workmanship is in line with the specified requirements.
Work as part of a team in the delivery of one or more projects at any one time, embracing the ethos of a “one team” culture.

Working knowledge of PLC’s (programming not required) and Variable Speed Drives / motor starters, valve actuators and instrumentation in general.
Full Clean driving licence.
Earthing and Lightning protection designs
Minimum of 3 years’ experience, preferably in the Water & Wastewater sector.
Excellent literacy, numeric and IT skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Autodesk packages
Working knowledge of Trimble ProDesign (Amtech)or ETAP calculation software would be an advantage.
Excellent planning, organisational, training, teamwork, problem resolution and presentation skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Level 7/8 Degree in Electrical Engineering.
