The HVAC Engineer role is a hands‑on technical position responsible for designing, optimizing, testing, and supporting advanced chiller systems used in both mobile and stationary hydrogen applications. The engineer will own the full lifecycle of these systems, ensuring performance, safety, and quality while driving continuous improvement, reliability, and scalability across the fleet.
Key responsibilities include chiller system design and optimization, development of standard operating procedures, testing and commissioning, technical direction for cross‑functional teams, and ongoing continuous‑improvement initiatives.
- Design and optimize chiller plumbing for mobile and stationary applications, accounting for environmental factors and quick connections.
- Perform heat‑load calculations to select optimal heat‑exchanger designs and chiller operating parameters.
- Create comprehensive SOPs covering operation, safety, and maintenance of chiller equipment.
- Develop testing protocols to evaluate chiller performance under varied conditions.
- Oversee commissioning of chiller systems to verify performance specifications and quality standards.
- Provide technical guidance to drafters, model makers, technicians, and programmers.
- Ensure timely implementation of product and process improvements through cross‑functional collaboration.
- Monitor existing chiller systems and recommend enhancements for efficiency, durability, and ease of operation.
- Stay current on industry trends and advancements to keep systems technologically leading.

Ideal candidates hold a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field, possess at least five years of hands‑on HVAC plumbing experience, and have demonstrated expertise in heat‑load calculations, SOP creation, testing protocols, and commissioning. Strong problem‑solving, collaboration, and the ability to travel 50 % of the time are also required.

- Possess 5+ years of hands‑on HVAC plumbing experience with chillers, AHUs, cooling towers, and pumps.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct heat‑load calculations and select appropriate heat exchangers.

- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards for chiller systems.
- Expertise in creating robust testing protocols for system performance assessment.
