Senior Structural Analyst / Engineer - Hydropower

Description

• Perform static, dynamic, and thermoelastic analyses using LS‑Dyna and other multi‑physics FE software (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus).
• Lead a team of analysts in developing fine element models, running simulations, validating results, and producing analysis reports.
• Conduct seismic analyses, including response spectrum, linear/non‑linear static, and elastic/inelastic time‑history analyses.
• Generate and optimize meshes with HyperMesh or equivalent tools.
• Optimize structural designs and validate responses against performance requirements.
• Collaborate with design engineers to verify structural integrity and refine designs.
• Establish Working Design Basis documents defining analytical methods, FE models, and analysis tools.
• Work with multidisciplinary teams from concept through construction and act as a mentor to junior staff.
• Write, compile, and review technical reports and contribute to proposal preparation and business development.
• Visit project sites as needed to gather information for analysis and design; travel domestically and internationally.

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum 12 years of relevant experience.
• Professional engineering designation in B.C. or eligibility within the year.
• Strong knowledge of industry codes, earthquake engineering, and seismic analysis.
• Proficiency with LS‑Dyna, ANSYS, Abaqus, SAP 2000, MIDAS Civil/FEA, AutoCAD, Mathcad, MS Word and Excel.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including report writing.
• Strong interpersonal skills for multidisciplinary collaboration.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel internationally.
• Experience with concrete dam, spillway, intake, penstock or lined tunnel design (asset).
• Expertise in performance‑based seismic design and Canadian Dam Association guidelines (asset).
• Experience in dam safety reviews and regulatory compliance (asset).
