What You’ll Do:• Install, commission, and maintain switchgear, transformers, and related equipment (400V-33kV).• Perform testing and diagnostics, including Partial Discharge, thermal imaging, and oil sampling.• Lead on-site activities, supervising teams and coordinating with project managers.• Work flexibly, including travel across the UK and internationally, as part of a 24/7 on-call rota.• Produce reports and documentation to ensure high standards of work completion.
Proactively identify and communicate onsite opportunities for additional services, upgrades, or solutions that enhance customer operations and align with Schneider Electric offerings.
Relay Secondary Injection (Both electromechanical and solid-state relays) - to include current & voltage protection.
Knowledge of basic transformer protection devices & associated test methods.
Must be familiar with basic secondary Injection sets such as Sverker 760/780, T&R 100/200ADM, T&R DVS3.
High Voltage Testing (415v - 33kv systems)
We’re looking for a Commissioning Service Engineer to join our team in Scotland, working on HV/LV switchgear, transformers, and electrical distribution systems across the UK and overseas. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a field-based, problem-solving environment, enjoys variety in their work, and wants to develop expertise in installation, commissioning, maintenance, and fault diagnosis.
CT Magnetisation Curves - being able to complete using variac/volt & ammeter as well as CT analyser. Also, polarity check without CT analyser.
G59 G99 protection - Under/Over Voltage, Under/Over Frequency, ROCOF/dF/dT.
CT Primary Injection - standard protection (OC/EF/Metering) configuration & high impedance scheme such as Bus Zone protection.
What We’re Looking For:• Experience working with electrical distribution systems, switchgear, or transformers.• Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose faults in electrical equipment.• Knowledge of HV/LV systems and electrical safety regulations.• Willingness to travel and work flexibly, including some overseas assignments.• Strong communication skills and the ability to supervise teams on-site.
Operational knowledge of basic auto-changeover schemes.
