Mentoring junior team members and supporting their professional development towards BP141 authorisation.
Making informed, risk-based decisions supported by independent technical knowledge.
Ensuring new equipment meets acceptance criteria for operation and maintenance. Ensuring compliance to National Grid’s Type Registration process (BP183)
Ensuring compliance with National Grid’s technical documentation and safeguarding project specifications. This includes, but isn’t limited to, understanding BP500, Design Management (BP188), and various NG Technical Specifications such as TS2 Substation Design.
Collaborating with colleagues to implement changes to NGET technical procedures.
Leading design assurance activities, reviewing supplier designs for adherence to our National Grid Electricity Transmission specifications.

Mitigating risks associated with construction and commissioning through high-quality designs. An ideal candidate would be familiar with and possess a solid understanding of Construction Design Management 2015.
A STEM degree or equivalent (Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferred).
Strong experience in managing multiple stakeholders and projects.
Understanding of regulatory and energy industry frameworks.
Understanding general requirements of UK Environmental and Waste Management legislation
Desirable: BP141 authorisation as a Substation HV Design Engineer (Assurance)
Desirable: IAM certificate.
Working knowledge of relevant national and international standards and CDM Regulations.
Membership in an engineering professional body (e.g., IET) with a desire to achieve chartered engineer status.
Understanding relevant requirements of UK health and safety legislation. Additionally, possess H&S qualifications such as IOSH and/or NEBOSH.
Demonstrable knowledge of project-based engineering.
