What you would be doing

- Completion and lead of Design Reviews if required.
- Weekly standup meeting to communicate previous weeks achievements and current weeks priorities.
- Design of RF filters
- Verification of designs against Requirement Specifications
- Working together with the Engineering Team to design and create products.
- Collaboration and communication with full engineering team including interacting with other Engineering disciplines to achieve department targets.
- Scoping of new systems and technologies both for feasibility and product design.
- Contribute to department processes and procedures.
- Design of linear high power wide band RF amplifiers up to 200 Watts using for example GaN or LDMOS technology
- Managing of external design houses and resource as required.
- Creation of design pack documentation.
- Attending Project meetings when required.
- Organise and lead technical projects including being the lead of Preliminary, Interim and Critical Design Reviews as dictated by company procedures.
- Mentoring of lower grades assigned to your design function as and when needed.
- Provide task time estimates and risk considerations to the project manager and/or RF and Hardware group manager.

- Trouble shooting of hardware and system issues seen from all areas of the business.
- Familiarity and experience with industry tools such as PCB Design Software and RF simulation tools.
- British Citizen or ability to obtain required security clearance (SC).
- Bachelors/Masters degree in Engineering/related subject or equivalent work experience
- Experience with Altium Designer
- A working knowledge of analogue and digital electronics
- Experience of designing for and test/verification MIL-STD’s and DO160.
- Practical experience of PCB prototype testing and rework.
- An understanding and experience of design of products aligned with CommTech’s portfolio
- Ability to produce results under pressure.
- Self-motivated and enthusiastic.
- Self-testing and troubleshooting of your own design and development work.
- Experience of designing electronic circuits and sub-assemblies for use in military or airborne applications.
- Transmitter and Receiver Design experience
- LNA, Down-converter and Upconverter design
- Documentation and Communication including but not limited to;
- Schematic capture, PCB Layout and Footprint/symbol Creation (Altium)
- RF Simulation
- EMC experience.
- Ability to work in a team and interact with other Engineering disciplines.
- Experience with Ansys HFSS
- Electronics experience of switch-mode PSUs, embedded circuitry, glue logic, analogue electronics and EMC circuitry.
- RF Design including but not limited to:
- Experience of test equipment such as oscilloscopes, analysers and signal generators.
- Experience with Cadence AWR Microwave Office
- Established experience in an equivalent role
- Knowledge of the latest RF components and technologies
- System Architecture (RF)
- Onsite working including working from home policy (3 office/2 WFH).
