Coordinate with other departments (commercial, health & safety, contracts, procurement) to enhance business processes and project quality.
Champion the Golden Thread of Information, ensuring comprehensive digital documentation and traceability throughout all assigned projects in accordance with Building Safety Act requirements.
Contribute to continuous improvement and performance management within the Design & Quality function, including mentoring junior engineers, knowledge sharing, and monitoring industry best practices.
Technical Documentation: Prepare detailed calculations, drawings, and specifications for temporary works installations, maintaining comprehensive records for audit and inspection purposes.
TG20 21 Compliance : Generate and verify TG20 21 compliance sheets using industry- standard software, ensuring scaffold configurations meet "generally recognised standard" requirements under Work at Height Regulations 2005.
Site Support: Provide technical support during installation, inspection, and removal of temporary works, including attendance at critical construction phases and problem resolution.
Address project or design-related issues through site visits, project inspections, and evidence-based recommendations for resolution.
Hoarding and Welfare Design Review : Review and approve company hoarding designs and site accommodation structural arrangements in accordance with BS 5975 2019, PAS 8812 2016, and relevant wind loading standards BS EN 1991-1-4.
Lead temporary works design verification and approval processes across multiple projects, ensuring compliance with BS 5975 2019, PAS 8812 2016, and relevant British Standards
Organise, chair, and participate in design coordination meetings relevant to temporary works and overall project delivery.
Produce a complete, clearly structured set of wind load calculations for third-party review, Building Control approval, and Building Safety Regulator submissions.
Maintain current knowledge of British and European standards, Building Regulations, and safety requirements, ensuring continuous professional development for self and team members.
Load Distribution Design : Calculate and specify required spreaders, base plates, and load transfer mechanisms to support scaffold standards and construction hoists, ensuring safe load distribution to existing structures and foundations.
Scaffold Load Assessment : Review and assess temporary lateral scaffold loads and their structural effects on existing buildings, including comprehensive analysis of superstructure and substructure impacts using current calculation methods
Maintain professional development and stay current with industry standards and regulations, including emerging guidance on temporary works and Building Safety Regulator Requirements.
Incorporate analysis for inset/building recesses, architectural projections, and other features impacting wind load behaviour on both permanent and temporary structures.
CDM 2015 Compliance: Assess and document designer's risk in accordance with CDM Regulations 2015, preparing comprehensive risk assessments, mitigation strategies, and residual risk communications to duty holders.
Structural Impact Evaluation : Assess the effect of scaffolding and temporary works on individual buildings, external grounds, low-level ancillary buildings, and podium roofs of below-ground car parks, considering both static and dynamic loading scenarios
