Provides structural engineering support to Project Managers throughout the planning, design and construction phase of capital projects. Support includes but is not limited to design reviews, construction submittal reviews, structural analysis reviews, alternative reviews, etc. Ensures projects are meeting Sound Transit and local agency standards.
Performing advanced level professional engineering duties involved in the design and development of a variety of engineering projects.

Serves as Sound Transit’s technical matter expert and point of contact for matters related to structural engineering. Responds to questions and inquiries from the general public, contractors, consultants, and agency staff in area of expertise.
Develops and maintains Sound Transit’s technical requirements and criteria related to structural engineering, including but not limited to design criteria, standard specifications and drawings. May be required to sign and seal technical requirements.
Preparing, reviewing, interpreting, analyzing, and modifying complex engineering plans, drawings, specifications, contract documents, and engineering reports for conformance to professional standards and approved budgets.
Interpreting and administering policies and procedures sufficient to administer, discuss, resolve, and explain them to staff and other constituencies.
Applying advanced principles and practices of structural engineering related to area of assignment.
Provides support to the department/division and others on matters as directed; serves as staff on a variety of boards, commissions, and committees; prepares and presents staff reports and other necessary correspondence; attends and participates in professional group meetings; maintains awareness of new trends and developments in the fields related to area of assignment; incorporates new developments as appropriate; ensures processes, policies and practices are interpreted and applied consistently and effectively; ensures accountability and compliance with all current and applicable state and federal laws, Agency policies and procedures, rules and regulations.
Applying project management techniques and principles and defining a detailed project scope and control scope as a means of achieving overall project objectives.
