Summer Intern, Internal Communications

Description

• Post, edit and maintain content on the employee intranet.
• Manage internal content calendar and coordination of review and approvals process for communications deliverables.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and creative team to develop screensavers, posters, brochures and other collateral.
• Contribute to strategy and implementation of employee communications campaigns.
• Write and edit content for weekly employee email newsletter.
• Proactively develop content and stories for the employee intranet, including photography and video content, on topics such as employee profiles and human-interest stories, department features, and project updates.
• Assist team in developing, implementing and staffing employee-facing events, both in-person and virtual.
• Track and analyze success of the agency’s internal communications efforts.

Requirements

• Self-starter and a fast learner with a curiosity about the agency’s people and projects
• In accordance with Port Authority policy, this position permits interns to work remotely a maximum of one day per week. In person collaboration is essential to how the Port Authority conducts business and regular in-office days or team collaboration days may be required depending on business needs. Some internships may require interns to be fully in-person.
• Experience with short-form video content and photography
• Experience with Adobe Experience Manager or a comparable website content management system
• Ability to opt in to the New York State and Local Retirement System
• Enrollment at a college or university at the time of the internship
• Strong writer and editor across both short-form and long-form content
• Major in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, English, Rhetoric or a related field.
