Inspects electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
Tests electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
Ensures that work is performed in accordance with relevant codes.
Advises management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.

Progressively more responsible work experience or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
Must maintain current Electrician’s license to meet governmental regulations.
Knowledge base relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, and property, including public safety.
Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
Diagnoses malfunctioning systems and components.
Ability to read blueprints and follow a plan layout to install electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures based on the job specifications and codes.
Graduation from high school, or equivalent.
