The role is a fixed‑term contract until December 2026 for an L&D Specialist who will lead the design and delivery of people‑focused learning and development projects. Projects include strengthening line‑management and leadership capability as well as other enabling‑skills initiatives. Working across the organisation and in collaboration with the Learning & Development team and division leadership, the specialist ensures leaders, managers and employees have access to high‑quality development resources.
Key duties involve supporting the development, implementation and delivery of annual L&D plans and researching external benchmarks to share best‑practice insights. The specialist designs and delivers projects aligned to business plans, collaborates with the People Department and L&D team, and provides high‑quality management information through data analysis and presentation. They also embed organisational culture, contribute to change‑management planning, drive continuous improvement of L&D processes and policies, and facilitate focus groups and engagement sessions. In addition, they support the talent development agenda, including career pathways, competency frameworks and early‑career programmes.
The ideal candidate holds a degree in HR Management with at least CIPD Level 5 and has demonstrable experience designing, implementing and delivering L&D initiatives that align with organisational priorities. Strong stakeholder‑engagement skills in a matrixed environment and the ability to use people data, insights and best practice to inform decisions are essential. The role also requires the capability to evaluate impact and drive continuous improvement.
The position offers a base salary of £50,311 plus a final‑salary defined benefit scheme with an equivalent 21.5 % employer pension contribution, 25 days annual leave (plus Christmas closure, privilege days and UK bank holidays), and flexible hybrid working options. It is based at UKAEA Culham in Oxfordshire and is graded at Level 5 within the People Division. UKAEA is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion, encouraging applications from under‑represented groups in STEM.
