Define and maintain the overall test architecture and automation framework across applications and platforms.
Conduct quality-focused reviews and assessments to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
Provides oversight for contracting teams to evaluate and assure effective use of resources.
Ensure testing data/content relevancy, security, privacy, and compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends to drive innovation.
Directs activities that have significant impact on the achievement of results for the area
Focuses on operational plans with short- to mid-term impact on the organization (e.g., 1– 2 years).
Owns and develops strategic and operational goals for area of expertise.
Provide mentorship and guidance to development teams on testing and automation best practices.
Typically, responsible for managing large, complex project initiatives of strategic importance to the company, involving large cross-functional teams.
Drive adoption of modern testing practices such as contract testing, chaos engineering, performance profiling, and AI-assisted testing.
Recommends and implements new products, processes, policies, standards or operating plans in support of area’s strategy and operations.
Create reusable automation assets, frameworks, toolkits, and libraries to streamline development team productivity.
Establish governance frameworks and standards for system quality and consistency.
Frequently responsible for providing guidance, coaching and training to other employees across the organization within area of expertise.
Design and promote shift-left and shift-right quality practices, including early defect detection, observability, and production monitoring.
Contribute to the organization's enterprise quality strategy, including adoption plans, design principles, and best practices.
Optimize system performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
Establish KPIs, quality metrics, dashboards, and reporting to measure effectiveness of testing and automation strategies.
Develop and enforce standardized quality engineering patterns, processes, and architectural guidelines across teams.
