Provide expert guidance on HVDC construction and installation, managing commissioning programmes to identify risks, resolve schedule clashes, and approve project governance.
Coordinate the execution of all commissioning works for Peterhead Converter Station and EGL2 Cable System, ensuring full compliance with SSEN policies and industry standards (NESO STCP19-4 and CIGRE 697).
Oversee the Peterhead Site Commissioning team, managing resources, fatigue, and safety (CDM/ESQCR) including daily on-site inspections and rigorous asset integrity checks.
Chair and represent projects at key Commissioning Panels (EGL2, HVDC Supervisory) to ensure robust coordination with wider National Grid and network activities.
Lead the development of energisation, outage, and contingency plans, liaising with internal teams and external partners (NESO, JV Partners) to maintain network security.

Deep experience in commissioning HVDC systems (Controls, Protection, Valves) and 400kV Transmission infrastructure, including witnessing OEM quality documentation.
Proven ability to manage high-performing teams and maintain strong relationships with critical contract partners and diverse internal stakeholders.
A track record of delivering complex installation and commissioning works under challenging timescales, with excellent communication and prioritisation skills.
A valid driver’s license and the flexibility to be site-based at Peterhead, with further travel to UK and international partner locations as required.
In-depth understanding of UK Transmission & Distribution businesses, including the statutory, health & safety, and licensing requirements of a Transmission Operator.
