The Pellet Mill Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining multiple pellet mills, ensuring optimal feed rates, adjusting rolls and dies, and monitoring pellet quality to meet company standards. The role also includes conducting QC testing, troubleshooting equipment malfunctions, performing ash tests, and maintaining a clean work environment.
The position requires analyzing equipment performance, making tooling adjustments, documenting inspections, and coordinating maintenance and housekeeping to maintain consistent production quality and safety. Operators must monitor machine indicators, report accurately, communicate operational information, enter work requests, and promptly escalate issues.
- Analyze equipment performance and adjust tooling to achieve desired throughput and quality.

- Review work orders to determine materials, procedures, and processing steps for pellet production.
- Adjust machine components to control speed, pressure, temperature, and material flow.
- Monitor indicator lights, gauges, and timers to detect malfunctions.
- Perform or coordinate equipment maintenance per job instructions.
- Perform or coordinate housekeeping to required standards.
- Maintain consistent production quality.
- Follow all workplace and safety procedures.
- Complete accurate reporting and enter maintenance work requests.
- Communicate operational information and promptly escalate issues.
- Read data trends to make appropriate process adjustments.
- Uphold safety standards.
- Perform routine equipment maintenance and determine maintenance needs.
- Work outdoors in temperatures above 100 °F and below 32 °F.
- Adhere strictly to safety rules and wear required safety equipment.
- Perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 lb, climbing heights of 20 ft or more, and standing for up to 12 hours.
- Work around moving equipment and climb cranes exceeding 100 ft.
- Sit at a computer screen for up to 12 hours daily.

Preferred qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, at least two years of manufacturing experience, and strong critical‑thinking, troubleshooting, and equipment‑maintenance skills.
Work is performed outdoors in temperatures ranging from above 100 °F to below 32 °F and in hot, humid, cold, and noisy industrial environments, often at elevated or uneven surfaces. Physical duties include lifting up to 50 lb, climbing heights of 20 ft or more, and prolonged standing or computer work, with strict adherence to safety protocols.
