The Design Manager leads the design department, overseeing all design projects to ensure they are completed on time, cost‑efficiently, and in compliance with relevant regulations. This role requires strong leadership, coordination with multiple stakeholders, and adherence to safety policies.

- Create detailed fire sprinkler designs using AutoCAD‑based CAD software.
- Coordinate sprinkler piping with other building components.
- Perform hydraulic calculations.
- Read and interpret construction documents, drawings, specifications, and contracts.
- Apply relevant NFPA standards to designs based on building type, hazard classification, and architectural features.
- Communicate with AHJs, contractors, and other trades.
- Coordinate material listings with team members.
- Handle permitting and inspection requirements alongside the team.
- Participate actively in pre‑design and review meetings.
- Follow company safety policies to ensure safe, professional work.
- Provide outstanding customer service.
- Visualize 3D concepts and solve basic geometry and algebra problems.
- Obtain and retain required licenses per national, state, and local codes.
- Read and interpret architectural, electrical, and mechanical drawings.
- Maintain accurate and auditable records.
- Prioritize tasks and delegate when appropriate.

Physical demands include the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand, walk, bend, kneel for extended periods, and work at heights or in confined spaces as needed.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 5 years fire sprinkler design experience.
- Minimum 2 years leadership experience.
- NICET Certification level I‑II preferred.
- Proficient with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of HydraCAD and/or AutoSPRINK preferred.
- Interpret and apply NFPA standards and read construction documents proficiently.
- Experience with various system types and manufacturers.
- Strong knowledge of industry codes such as IFC, NFPA, IBC, and NEC.
- Work effectively in a fast‑paced service/construction team environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for employee and customer interaction.
- Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities focused on results.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to travel as needed.

The position is for a Fire Sprinkler System Design Manager located in San Diego, CA (Hiller San Diego – 92111) with a salary range of $110,000 to $143,909 per year.
