The role includes managing environmental site investigations, geological studies, work plans, groundwater sampling, and remedial actions. Responsibilities cover evaluation of groundwater, surface water, soil, soil vapor, and air samples for regulatory compliance and developing corrective action plans. Some travel and fieldwork are required.
The successful candidate will participate in a wide range of environmental and engineering projects, from conceptual site model development to design and implementation of remediation and risk management strategies. They will lead site investigations, prepare technical reports for CERCLA, RCRA, and other regulatory programs, and manage project proposals, budgets, schedules, and subcontractors.
Additional duties include guiding data collection, creating complex visualizations such as groundwater models and geologic cross‑sections, analyzing hydrogeologic data, and interacting with regulators, subcontractors, and clients. The role also involves overseeing cross‑functional teams, collaborating with multidisciplinary professionals, and preparing and implementing Health and Safety Plans.
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s in Geology (or related field) and possess the GA Professional Geologist license or ability to obtain it, plus 40‑hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification. They need 7–10 years of environmental project experience, including site investigations, remediation, Phase I/II assessments, and project management of small‑to‑mid‑size projects.
Required expertise includes knowledge of CERCLA, RCRA, and related regulations, experience sampling soil and groundwater using various drilling methods, soil logging per USCS, installing monitoring wells, and managing subcontractors. Strong interpersonal, communication, critical‑thinking, and safety leadership skills are essential, as is the ability to mentor junior staff and produce technical reports and proposals.
Preferred qualifications include a Master’s degree in Geology. WSP emphasizes adherence to health, safety, and harassment policies.
