The Correctional Officer provides security, care, and direct supervision of inmates and residents during housing, meals, recreation, work assignments, and all other activities within the facility. The role may require the use of weapons or force to maintain discipline and order. Veterans are encouraged to apply.
The position requires flexibility to work any shift and to be assigned to diverse posts such as armory/key control, housing units, kitchen, medical, and visitation areas. Military service is recognized and can qualify candidates for positions requiring criminal‑justice experience.
Applicants must have at least a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, be at least 18 years old, and be able to complete all required training. CoreCivic provides paid training and covers the cost of obtaining a state‑licensed non‑commissioned security officer certification.
$24.39 per hour. Updated sign‑on bonus up to $5,000 for COTA‑certified candidates with more than a year’s experience; up to $8,000 for hires between July 1 2025 and December 31 2025. Must be willing to work at Red Rock or La Palma.
