Description

• Commission and commission medium‑ and low‑voltage variable speed drives, power converters, and related equipment at customer sites across sectors such as power plants, metal, marine, oil & gas, and material handling.
• Perform on‑site installation, preventive maintenance, repair, calibration, and unplanned corrective maintenance of power conversion systems.
• Produce accurate technical and business documentation, record daily activities digitally, and ensure compliance with GE’s integrity, safety, and EHS guidelines.
• Provide technical assistance, emergency repair support, and troubleshooting guidance to customers, field personnel, and factory teams.
• Serve as the single point of contact for customers, managing spare‑parts orders, issue resolution, and fostering strong customer relationships.
• Collect and report data to support fleet performance analysis, marketing intelligence, and service sales opportunities.

Requirements

Based at GE Power Conversion’s Chennai site, the Services Specialist role is an exciting opportunity for an action‑oriented individual with a strong technical foundation in power‑conversion equipment. The position leverages technical knowledge to directly support customers through commissioning, maintenance, and servicing of state‑of‑the‑art products and solutions worldwide. Frequent travel—up to 100 %—to client sites in India and globally is required.

You will join a dedicated team of experts and collaborate across functional groups to enhance strategic business acumen while delivering high‑quality service. • Hold a Diploma/B.E./M.E. in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (or equivalent) with 2–5 years of relevant experience in metal, marine, oil & gas, power plant, or material‑handling environments.
• Demonstrate knowledge of power electronics, low‑voltage equipment (AC/DC), PLCs, and hands‑on experience with converters, generators, switchboards, AVR, excitation systems, and DC/AC drives.
• Exhibit strong oral and written communication, interpersonal, leadership, problem‑solving, and attention‑to‑detail skills; ability to work independently and under stress.
• Experience working in cross‑functional, matrix, or international teams is preferred.
