Description

The Recycling Equipment Operator is responsible for running shredding, grinding, extrusion, and pelletizing machines to produce recycled polyethylene. The role requires keeping machine settings within standard operating parameters and ensuring the recycle line operates safely and efficiently.

Preventative and predictive maintenance tasks are performed and recorded as needed, and the operator supports teamwork by assisting and training coworkers under supervisor direction. Flexibility to work overtime, holidays, and weekends is required.

• Operate shredding, grinding, extrusion, and pelletizing equipment for recycled polyethylene production.
• Maintain machine settings within SOP parameters and keep the recycle line running safely.
• Ensure accurate and timely completion of all recycle process administrative forms.
• Feed correct scrap material onto the in‑feed belt to achieve proper color and properties.
• Uphold 5S standards in all work areas.
• Meet scheduled production output rates and record results on required forms.
• Immediately report non‑conforming product to management.
• Perform preventative/predictive maintenance and document activities.
• Assist and train co‑workers as directed by the supervisor.
• Work overtime, holidays, and weekends as scheduled.
• Use basic computer functions and apply problem‑solving skills to troubleshoot process issues.
• Wear and operate required safety equipment (earplugs, safety glasses) and read printed and screen data.
• Operate in environments with heat, humidity, moving mechanical parts, vibration, and loud noise.

Requirements

Accurate documentation of all administrative forms related to the recycling process is essential, as is feeding the correct scrap material onto the in‑feed belt to achieve the desired coloration and physical properties. The operator must maintain 5S housekeeping, achieve scheduled production output rates, and promptly report any non‑conforming product.

Candidates need basic computer proficiency, problem‑solving abilities, and fundamental math, reading, and writing skills. Physical demands include lifting up to 50 lb, standing for 12‑hour shifts, bending, squatting, pulling, and wearing required safety equipment while working in hot, humid, noisy, and mechanically active environments.
