The Role

Overview

Install underground pipes of various sizes, ensuring proper alignment, depth, and safety.

Tasks

-Coordinating all other activities in the excavation -Establishing alignment and grade using a laser -Aligning and joining pipe sections -Signaling equipment operators to ensure safe and proper excavation -Digging and moving dirt with a hand shovel to prepare trenches for pipes and utility lines -Operating equipment such as loaders, excavators, and backhoes as needed (if trained) -Following all safety rules and encouraging others to do the same

What You Bring

-Be able to carry 70 lbs. or more. -Flexibility: Ability to work in a number of diverse locations is pertinent, as work locations may change daily. -Strength and Endurance: Pipe Layer positions are physically demanding, and a high level of physical fitness is required. -A minimum of 2 years' of experience laying pipe in Highway Construction is required. -Communication: Excellent interpersonal communication and team work skills are necessary as proper completion of an assigned job and working safe will be highly dependent upon this ability. -Coordination: Balance, depth perception and eye-hand coordination are critical. -Willing to do general laborer work (e.g. Sweep, clean up job site, run errands, use hammer and saw, dig trenches, etc.) -High School diploma/GED preferred.
