- Be an ambassador for the Engineering brand internally and externally
- Work closely with the Product Owner, Business Analyst and/or Designer to establish technical requirements and lead the technical direction of the work.
- Improve engineering efficiency for their respective team
- Collaborate with Product and Design on team roadmap and priorities
- Provides end-to-end visibility across various technical domains and facilitates collaboration among technical SMEs.
- Mentor and coach software engineers in progressive engineering practices
- Facilitate team ceremonies where necessary
- The role Involves setting (and continuously improving) technical standards and relevant patterns for software delivery.
- Accountable to the System Health and Tech debt backlog for their respectively owned service
- Accountable to reporting on delivery metrics for their respective team
- Champion and adopt Engineering best practices
- Works with the Product Owner to deliver product roadmap and drive value using technology.
- Execute and deliver on the roadmap in collaboration with Product and Design
- Build a deep understanding of their product and business domain
- Ensures smooth running of the delivery team, focused on quality and delivery excellence.
- Drive work and epic breakdown for effective estimation, capacity planning and delivery
- Manage and unblock technical dependencies with other teams where required
- Evaluates technical feasibility and options for the solution.
- Provides leadership to developers on principles and practices, ensures consistency in approach. Leads by example in building quality in, aligned with product vision and value.
- Helps identify low-level dependencies, technical risks, and mitigation options and ensures technical health of the asset and adherence to a technical debt budget.
- Participate in and contribute to cross domain technology forums such as Architecture Guild and
- Direct line management for all the engineers in the squad.
- Collaborate with Principal Engineers and Architects to drive Solution Design for large initiatives
- Performs code reviews where necessary

- Familiar with Functional and Object Oriented programming
- Deep expertise in at least one programming language and tech stack
- Familiar with Document and Relational data persistence models
- Experience designing software solutions for scale
- Highly regarded experience: MongoDB
- Experience with either high traffic customer facing websites and/or complex mobile apps
- Experience optimising engineering practices and processes
- Experience mentoring more junior engineers
- Experience with distributed applications in the cloud
- Experience implementing DevOps practices and CI/CD
- Familiar with Cloud Design patterns
- Experience with React Native and/or TypeScript, Javascript, Node.js, Next.js and React.js
- Familiar with synchronous (API) and async (Messaging) integration patterns
- Familiar with modern Application Security Practices (OWASP)
- Evidence of data informed decision making
- Degree in Computer Science / Software Engineering related field
- Understands shift-left testing and how to implement it in practice
- Applied Domain Driven Design, TDD and/or BDD at previous companies
- AWS (or other Cloud Platform) Certification
- Experience working in triads (Product, Design and Tech)
- Tech Leadership Guild 1
- Experience leading a team of engineers
- Experience working with one of the common Cloud Platforms such as AWS, Azure, and/or GCP
- Familiar with TDD, BDD and Domain Driven design
- Experience working in Agile environments
