The UPS/PDU Testing Engineer is accountable for testing, validating, and ensuring the performance, safety, and reliability of Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems, collaborating closely with project and site teams.
Key duties involve conducting factory acceptance tests (FAT), site acceptance tests (SAT), and a variety of routine, type, and special tests in compliance with international standards and customer specifications.
The role also includes preparing detailed test reports and certificates, documenting non‑conformances, supporting root‑cause analysis, troubleshooting failures, and assisting with commissioning and start‑up activities at customer sites.
- Perform routine, type, and special tests on offline, line‑interactive, and online/double‑conversion UPS/PDU systems
- Execute Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) using approved test scripts
- Measure input/output voltage, current, frequency, hi‑pot, G‑bond, load regulation, voltage stability, efficiency, power factor, and harmonic distortion (THDi/THDv)
- Conduct block load, power module live‑swap, burn‑in, short‑circuit, overload (25%‑125% load), transfer time, and backup time tests
- Carry out battery discharge tests under various loads and verify compliance with IEC 62040, IEEE, IS, UL, or customer‑specified standards
- Prepare test reports, certificates, inspection records, and maintain calibration data for instruments
- Document non‑conformances and support root‑cause analysis and corrective actions
- Troubleshoot UPS failures during testing and coordinate resolutions with design, manufacturing, and quality teams
- Support commissioning and start‑up activities at customer sites when required
- Follow strict safety procedures to maintain a zero‑incident testing environment
- Interpret electrical drawings, single‑line diagrams, and schematics
- Work in factory and/or site‑based testing environments with exposure to high‑power electrical equipment
