  • Participate in root cause analysis and issue resolution for electrical system failures related to harnessing.
  • Select appropriate materials and components considering harsh environmental factors (vibration, moisture, temperature, abrasion).
  • Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing teams to oversee prototype builds and production readiness.
  • Conduct testing and validation of wiring systems, including continuity, insulation resistance, voltage drop, and environmental durability tests.
  • Work cross-functionally with mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing teams to ensure harness designs meet performance, durability, and safety standards.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., SAE J1128, ISO 6722, RoHS, etc.).
  • Translate system electrical schematics into detailed harness drawings and documentation.
  • Design and develop wiring harnesses, cable assemblies, and interconnect systems for use in rugged, heavy equipment.
  • Create and manage 2D and 3D wire routing designs using CAD tools such as Altium, OnShape, CATIA, SolidWorks Electrical, or Zuken E3.series.
  • Support the development of BOMs, installation instructions, and service documentation.

We are seeking an experienced Wiring Harness Engineer to join our engineering team focused on the development of electrical systems for heavy machinery, such as bulldozers, excavators, and loaders. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the design, implementation, and testing of cabling and wiring harness systems, with a deep understanding of the unique challenges posed by off-highway and heavy-duty equipment environments.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Knowledge of ISO 26262 or other functional safety standards.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of connector systems, cable management, routing, and protection methods.
  • Familiarity with CAN bus systems, power distribution, and sensor/actuator interfacing.
  • Experience working with PLM systems (e.g., Duro, Teamcenter, Windchill) and revision control.
  • Experience with CAT (Caterpillar) or similar OEM heavy equipment wiring systems.
  • Proficiency with electrical CAD software (e.g., Altium, OnShape, CATIA Electrical, Zuken E3, AutoCAD Electrical, or SolidWorks Electrical).
  • Experience with DFMEA / PFMEA, harness simulation tools, or system integration testing.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in wiring harness or cable assembly design, preferably for off-road, heavy machinery, or industrial equipment.
  • Hands-on experience with harness prototyping and assembly processes.
