Resident Engineer -Civil/Structural/Architectural

Description

• Plans, coordinates, or prepares equipment, work and material specifications, bid evaluations and award recommendations
• Coordinate engineering effort with Jobsite team, home office and Client
• Facilitate technical discussions with third parties (client, suppliers, regulators).
• Participates in the design, development and modification of Civil/Structural components and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs).
• Prepares procurement and subcontract requisition documents and performs associated technical bid evaluations with award recommendations
• Assist in constructability reviews.
• Analyzes and reports on the suitability of unconventional materials, techniques and/or difficult coordination requirements
• Schedules, conducts, or coordinates detailed phases of the civil/structural engineering work for a global business unit, a project or staff group to include the preparation of original designs layouts, details, drawings and specifications for structures, building, roadways, railroads, etc.
• Originates and checks structural engineering deliverables, such as steel and concrete calculations, specifications, and material requisitions
• Support field engineering activities for ongoing construction work.
• Review and coordinate technical documents with/from other engineering disciplines, procurement, and construction.
• Designs structures using knowledge of structural analysis, including statics, dynamics, and materials engineering
• Determines the appropriate use of various structural elements such as steel, wood, masonry, and concrete to ensure appropriate material is used based on load or stress requirements
• Analyzes problems with conflicting design requirements, sketches ideas and possible solutions
• Support resolution of construction problems identified to Engineering via meetings, correspondence, Field changes (FCDs), Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), Construction Deficiency Reports (CDRs), etc.
• Assists in the preparation of cost estimates, quantity take-offs for proposals, forecasts, and change orders
• Provides assistance to project and construction management in identifying and complying with project Civil/Structural requirements and in addressing issues as they arise during project execution
• Completes Civil/Structural documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance

Requirements

• Considered highly skilled and proficient in discipline
• Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of area of specialization, resolves a wide range of issues in creative ways
