

Prysmian manufactures cables for energy and telecommunications across various industries.
The R&D Cable Design & System Support Engineer will work in the Liverpool Energy Plant to help design, develop and launch new cable products that meet customer expectations and comply with local and international standards. The role collaborates closely with R&D, commercial, logistics and manufacturing teams and provides technical support to both local and overseas operations. Maintaining the Prysmian Cable Design System for the Oceania region is also a key part of the position.
Key duties include assessing market requests from single items to large tenders, supporting R&D activities with the manager and laboratory, and communicating design, manufacture and delivery requirements across functions. The engineer must keep output aligned with company KPIs, respond to technical queries within service limits, and apply Australian/New Zealand standards to market inquiries. Proficiency with the cable design system, SAP1C data transfer, and HS&E leadership are required.
The ideal candidate is a collaborative team player who can also lead in a fast‑paced environment. A minimum of two years’ experience in product design, process or product‑development engineering and a tertiary degree in an engineering discipline (electrical, mechatronics, chemical, materials, mechanical, industrial or electronics) are required. Familiarity with polymer processing, statistical methods and strong AutoCAD (or similar) skills are essential.
