The Yard Operator ensures raw materials are received, stored, and loaded for production while performing routine maintenance on plant equipment and keeping the yard organized.
Key duties include inspecting and maintaining equipment, monitoring aggregate and admixture levels, sampling and testing materials, maintaining a clean site, operating vehicles safely, completing inspection reports, adhering to environmental regulations, and assisting the Concrete Plant Manager and dispatch with batching, communications, and miscellaneous tasks.
Additional responsibilities involve assisting with concrete spill cleanup and providing coverage for colleagues at other locations when needed.
The role is primarily outdoor, exposing the operator to dust, fumes, chemicals, and moderate to loud noise, and requires lifting up to 100 lbs, repetitive heavy lifting, and various postures throughout the day.
Qualifications include a high school diploma, preferred experience operating heavy equipment like a front‑end loader, strong verbal communication, basic computer skills for using dispatch systems and software, and a preferred State Certified Concrete Technician certification.
