  • Using moves management framework, create and implement successful strategies for identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding a portfolio of new and existing institutional funders.
  • Analyze grant denials and develop strategies for re-engagement and resubmission.
  • Create clear and compelling materials for institutional partners and prospects, including pitch decks, one-pagers, briefings, impact reports, and stewardship pieces.
  • Track trends in institutional philanthropy and recommend strategies for leveraging them.
  • Manage the coordination of in-kind donations from corporate and community members, as needed.
  • Continue to build Weshab’s foundation and corporate pipeline by identifying, researching, and qualifying new six and seven figure opportunities for funding with the Vice President of Development
  • Work closely with the Vice President of Development, Director of Development, and the team to support goal setting, financial reports, events, and special projects, particularly the Annual Golf Classic and Annual Celebration Dinner.
  • Establish systems and protocols for donor volunteer management at Westhab as well as plan and attend volunteer events with corporate partners and donors, as needed.
  • Lead the development, writing, and submission of high-quality letters of interest, grant proposals, budgets, and progress reports for foundation and corporate funders.
  • Input and track donor data in Westhab’s database with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Build strong relationships with Westhab leadership, finance, and program colleagues to understand funding needs and ensure compliance with all grant reporting and stewardship.
  • Collaborate with Westhab’s Communications Manager to coordinate funder and volunteer recognition through website, newsletters, and social media.
  • Establish and maintain strong personal contact and relationships with foundation and corporate contacts through meetings and events.
  • Create and maintain an internal calendar to track and ensure the timely submission of funding proposals and renewals, budgets, reports, and stewardship.

The Manager of Foundation and Corporate Giving will play a key role in Westhab’s Development and Communications team, contributing to Westhab’s mission of building communities and changing lives. The Manager will lead and grow the institutional funding portfolio, with responsibilities spanning strategic grant and gift writing, portfolio management, goal setting, and operational excellence. This role comes at an exciting time as Westhab elevates its institutional partnerships to support its ambitious fundraising goals. The ideal candidate will bring exceptional writing skills, strong organizational abilities, and a proactive and relationship-driven mindset combined with a passion for Westhab’s mission.

  • Proven track record of securing five-figure and larger institutional grants.
  • Ability to travel and work select evening and weekend hours, as needed.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative, with persistence and follow-through.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with foundation officers, corporate partners, and internal stakeholders while accepting constructive feedback.
  • Keen attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid environment
  • Skilled at managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment while consistently meeting deadlines.
  • Exceptional writing and communications skills, including the ability to capture complex ideas into compelling narratives.
  • Strong knowledge of the New York City institutional philanthropic landscape.
  • Strong technology competence in learning new programs and skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and Google Suite.
  • Bachelor’s degree is required and a minimum of 5 years experience in a related role.
