Description

The Marketing Intern supports the Marketing Department by helping create client proposals, presentations, advertisements, and other marketing materials, as well as assisting with social media efforts, signage, and website upkeep. This role reports to the Marketing Specialist and is located at Thornton’s headquarters.

Safety is the top priority; the intern will gain experience with OSHA requirements, attend safety meetings, and help with compliance tracking and inspections, developing an understanding of risk management and proactive safety measures.

Delivering high‑quality projects with outstanding service is central to Thornton’s operations; the intern will support project teams by ensuring work meets design specifications, conducting site walkthroughs, and assisting in reviewing submittals and shop drawings to maintain the company’s reputation for exceptional delivery.

Community involvement is valued, and the intern may participate in outreach efforts or assist with company‑sponsored philanthropic events that benefit the neighborhoods where Thornton builds.

Empowerment is fostered by giving the intern opportunities to take initiative, contribute ideas, and collaborate with experienced professionals, including tasks such as assisting with RFIs, tracking schedules, and coordinating subcontractor meetings.

Accountability is emphasized through meeting deadlines, tracking progress, and ensuring precise completion of tasks such as logging permits, subcontract agreements, and assisting in project cost tracking, while also holding others accountable for deliverables.

• Provide administrative support: filing, coding invoices, coordinating meetings, and maintaining data logs.
• Assist with various payments.
• Coordinate production of responses to RFQs, RFPs, and award applications, including research, writing, layout, binding, and PowerPoint creation.
• Ensure proposal and presentation deadlines are met and materials are accurate.
• Support Marketing Specialist in coordinating and producing proposals and presentations.
• Develop and implement social media content and website updates.
• Create external and internal communications such as press releases, e‑blasts, and newsletters.
• Maintain company information and marketing databases.
• Enter data for projects, personnel, photography, and contacts.
• Compile, update, and maintain employee resumes and project data.
• Coordinate tradeshow and client events.
• Manage inventory of department materials, supplies, and promotional items.
• Maintain a professional working environment with team members.
