The Senior Estimator will lead the preparation of cost estimates for heavy civil construction projects such as transport, water and renewable energy. The role involves coordinating procurement inquiries, reviewing estimates, and guiding the estimating team through major bids.
Successful candidates will work both independently and collaboratively, delivering accurate first‑principles cost models, take‑offs, budgets and risk inputs while ensuring compliance with specifications, legal and sustainability requirements.
- Prepare first‑principles, resource‑based cost estimates with plant and labour requirements.
- Compile trade take‑offs and bill of quantities.
- Develop project budgets, cost plans, and accurate scopes of work.
- Lead major bid teams and present estimates to senior management.
- Review and evaluate subcontractor pricing packages.
- Contribute to risk registers, tender programmes, methodologies and clarifications.
- Participate in pre‑contract negotiations and tender reviews.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, quality, safety, environmental and sustainability standards.

The position requires a tertiary qualification or equivalent experience, at least ten years of estimating in heavy civil infrastructure, and proficiency with CCS Candy software. Experience with NZS3910/NZS3916 contracts and strong communication skills are also essential.
- Hold a tertiary qualification or equivalent knowledge.
- Minimum 10 years estimating experience in heavy civil infrastructure (projects $100‑$500 million).
- Proficient in CCS Candy estimation software.
- Familiar with NZS3910 and NZS3916 contract conditions.
