The Pipefitter will install, maintain, and inspect HVAC, utility, and process piping systems, working with materials such as carbon steel, stainless steel, plastics, fiberglass, and copper using methods like brazing, soft soldering and pro‑press. Responsibilities include proper fit‑up for butt and socket welding, leak testing, and installing pipe, fittings, valves, appliances, and fixtures with hand or power tools.
The Pipefitter position is located in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and is a full‑time, day‑shift role in the construction category. It requires a high school education and involves no travel.
The role demands regular attendance at assigned locations, accurate measurement, cutting, threading, and bending of pipe, and the ability to locate and mark installation points using rulers or levels. The Pipefitter also detects faulty equipment or defective materials, reports issues to supervisors, and directs helpers or apprentices as needed.
Essential skills include the ability to work independently or in a team, strict adherence to safety and quality standards, courteous interaction with co‑workers and clients, and diligent documentation and record‑keeping, with occasional clerical duties.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or comparable field experience, at least five years of field experience, a state trade license, OSHA 10 certification, and the capability to develop daily Job Hazard Analyses. Knowledge of industrial construction is preferred.
