Join IMEG as an Electrical Engineering New Grad in Chicago, IL and power the future with a collaborative, award-winning team. You will help design lighting, power distribution, low-voltage, and fire alarm systems for modern learning environments and advanced healthcare facilities. Using AutoCAD, Revit, and specialized electrical design software, you will work alongside experienced engineers to develop innovative solutions that meet client needs, sustainability goals, and project deadlines. This entry-level role offers hands-on design, analysis, and project execution experience with mentorship, training, and growth opportunities from day one.
In this position you will design and analyze electrical systems in accordance with code and IMEG standards, interact with clients to gather requirements and communicate technical information, and support project planning, scheduling, and execution. You will document design decisions, monitor progress, and propose solutions with senior support while participating in IMEG quality-control processes. Keeping current with electrical engineering trends, you will contribute to R&D, prioritize safety, identify risks, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions.
The Electrical Team designs lighting, power distribution, low-voltage, and fire alarm systems that protect communities, while providing hands-on experience with AutoCAD, Revit, and specialized electrical tools. You will learn directly from senior engineers through mentorship and real-project collaboration, contributing to award-winning projects such as the Missouri Botanical Garden Visitor Center, an ENR Midwest Project of the Year.
Candidates must hold a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent degree, and prior internship experience in building-design consulting is preferred. An Engineering in Training (EIT) license, strong technical and analytical skills, and knowledge of circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics are essential. Proficiency with industry-standard software such as lighting photometric tools, energy compliance programs, Adobe or Bluebeam, and basic BIM use is required, along with excellent communication, teamwork, attention to detail, and willingness to learn. Travel up to 5% with occasional overnight stays may be required.

The role offers a salary range of $78,000‑$80,000, with individual pay based on experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
