Senior Hydrologist

Description

• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams (ecologists, engineers, planners) and engage with clients, authorities and stakeholders to ensure robust environmental outcomes.
• Conduct hydrological and hydrogeological assessments to inform environmental impact assessments, planning applications and compliance documentation.
• Collect, analyse and interpret hydrometric, meteorological, GIS and modelling data to assess surface water, groundwater and catchment behaviour.
• Undertake fieldwork and hydrological monitoring, coordinate data acquisition, and support the delivery of sustainable drainage and water resource planning solutions.
• Lead the preparation of technical reports, including flood risk assessments (e.g., Stage 1, Stage 2 SSFRA) and water environment chapters for EIARs and other statutory submissions.

Requirements

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Engineers Ireland CPD Accreditation since 20217
• Bachelor’s degree in Hydrology, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, Geography, Earth Sciences, or a related discipline.
• Strong analytical skills with practical experience in hydrological and hydraulic modelling tools, GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS), and data analysis.
• Understanding of relevant Irish/EU water and environmental legislation, flood risk assessment methodologies, and environmental impact assessment processes.
