Lead the design of underground electrical distribution systems, including trench layouts, duct banks, cable routing, vault configurations, and grounding.
Conduct design reviews, QA/QC checks, and support field implementation activities.
Apply BC Hydro standards and other relevant codes to all design work.
Support and lead feeder cable replacement projects, including assessment of existing infrastructure, cable upgrades, and re-routing solutions.
Participate in client meetings, site visits, and design validation during project execution.
Develop complete construction work packages, including BOMs, trench details, cable schedules, and permit drawings.
Mentor and guide junior designers, providing oversight and technical support.
Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure alignment across disciplines (e.g., civil, structural, environmental).
Produce and review detailed CAD design packages using AutoCAD, ensuring technical accuracy and constructability.
Incorporate field survey data, GIS information, and utility records into your designs.

4+ years of experience in underground electrical distribution design, including feeder cable replacement or infrastructure renewal projects, with a strong background in underground systems and hands-on experience supporting feeder cable replacement and upgrade projects.
Perform structural and cable pulling calculations using SpidaCalc (preferred).
Exposure to SpidaCalc or similar tools for structural and cable tension calculations (preferred).
In-depth knowledge of trenching requirements, cable types, vault configurations, and system grounding.
Experience mentoring junior staff and leading design phases of complex projects.
Registration or eligibility for registration as a Technologist (e.g., with Engineers and Geoscientists BC).
A collaborative and detail-oriented approach to design and problem-solving.
Excellent coordination and communication skills across engineering and field teams.
Proficiency in AutoCAD and experience preparing construction-grade utility design drawings.
A diploma or degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering Technology, Utility Design, or a related field.
