The Lead Engineer will manage a team of engineers, technicians, and support staff on water and wastewater projects from planning through design and construction, independently oversee projects, collaborate on design and specifications, and report to a senior engineer, sector leader, or principal while also contributing to firm marketing and business development.
Key duties include delivering professional engineering services such as studies, planning, design, specifications, reports, and construction administration; maintaining frequent communication with clients, supervisors, and team members; attending internal and external meetings; leading proposal preparation and interview participation; providing direction to technicians; coordinating with other engineering teams on multi‑discipline projects; adhering to safety policies and ethical standards; and participating in professional organizations and community leadership programs, with occasional travel and overtime as needed.
Candidates must hold a BS in Civil or Environmental Engineering (MS a plus), possess a PE license or be eligible within 6‑12 months, have 7+ years of water or wastewater engineering experience, demonstrate strong project and construction management skills, exhibit excellent written and verbal communication, be detail‑oriented and self‑motivated, and be proficient with Microsoft Office and civil design software such as AutoCAD or Civil 3D; a valid driver’s license is required.
Physical requirements include the ability to work at a computer in a standard office, perform outdoor tasks during construction season, stand and walk for extended periods, lift objects up to 50 lb, and adhere to scheduled work hours, with accommodations available for disabilities.
