MNS is hiring a Resident Engineer to serve as the Owner’s professional representative on bridge and roadway construction projects, assuring projects are being built according to the contract documents
- Reviews change orders, shop drawings, materials testing, surveying
- Performs a variety of construction engineering, including but not limited to roadways and bridges.
- Primary point of contact with clients and approving agencies
- Arranges for materials testing, surveying, grade verification, and requests for payment
- Conducts weekly project meetings and oversees utility coordination
- Ensures EEO/labor compliance for the project
- Represents the organization in communications and conferences pertaining to broad aspects of engineering assignments
- Works in conjunction with technical field inspectors and project team members to assure project goals are being met
- Responsible for project Quality Control and Assurance
- Maintains scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments
- Prepares progress and final documents to meet State and Federal Highway Administration
- Prepares proposals to provide professional services under the direction of a Principal Construction Manager
- Supervises all staff necessary to complete assignments and is responsible for project profitability
- Assists with recruitment and conducts job performance evaluations
- Assists upper-level management and staff as a technical specialist or advisor
- Prepares and reviews complete project documents for conformity and quality assurance
- Resolves issues arising from the inspection process or from contract administration
- Manages professional and technical staff and contract administration

Minimum Experience Required
MINIMUM EDUCATION, LICENSURE, OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED
- Valid California Class C driver's license and an acceptable driver’s record are required
- California registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) required
- Possesses good oral and written communication skills
- 8 + years construction contract management experience related to roadway and/or bridge construction projects
- Works on a major project or several projects of moderate scope with complex features
- Able to negotiate change orders effectively
- Able to effectively manage people
- Working knowledge of CALTRANS and local agency projects, as well as document coordination on federally funded projects desired
- BS in Civil Engineering

$177,000 to $225,000 per year
