The Senior DevOps Architect will lead the design and evolution of Stem’s cloud‑native infrastructure, focusing primarily on the PowerTrack platform while aligning efforts with the Athena and Locus platforms. This role is responsible for unifying, standardizing, and consolidating environments, frameworks, and toolsets to reduce complexity, improve operational efficiency, and accelerate delivery across geographies.
- Consolidate environments, frameworks, and toolsets across PowerTrack, Athena, and Locus platforms
- Develop and execute a roadmap for platform standardization to reduce technical debt
- Establish unified CI/CD pipelines, deployment patterns, and release processes
- Standardize Infrastructure-as-Code practices and configuration management
- Consolidate observability tooling; define consistent monitoring, logging, and alerting standards
- Define and enforce common security baselines, compliance controls, and operational procedures
- Create reference architectures and golden paths for common use cases
- Lead migration of legacy systems to standardized platforms and document architectural decisions
- Mentor DevOps engineers, conduct architecture reviews, and provide technical direction
- Evaluate emerging technology trends and recommend adoption to support business models
- Collaborate with product managers on platform lifecycle decisions, including maintenance and modernization
- Design, deploy, and automate AWS production systems ensuring availability, performance, scalability, and security
- Troubleshoot complex AWS infrastructure issues and lead incident response with blameless post‑mortems
- Architect comprehensive observability solutions with metrics, centralized logging, and distributed tracing
- Design alerting strategies, establish SLOs/SLIs, and drive reliability improvements
- Develop automated remediation workflows and self‑healing infrastructure to reduce MTTR
- Analyze cloud spend, implement cost‑optimization strategies, and build cost visibility dashboards
- Integrate security practices into CI/CD pipelines and support NIST, SOC 2, SOX, and FedRAMP compliance
- Oversee pre‑production acceptance testing to ensure quality of products and services

The position requires at least eight years of overall experience, including five years building large‑scale, highly available enterprise AWS platforms and leading platform consolidation initiatives. Candidates must have deep expertise with AWS services, infrastructure‑as‑code tools, container orchestration, observability, cost‑optimization, and compliance frameworks such as NIST, SOC 2, SOX, and FedRAMP.
- 8+ years overall experience with at least 5 years in enterprise environments
- 5+ years building and managing large, highly available AWS platforms
- Deep expertise with AWS services (EC2, EKS, ECS, S3, Redshift, VPC, IAM, etc.) and the Well‑Architected Framework
- Proven track record leading platform consolidation, standardization, or modernization initiatives
- Strong ability to build consensus and drive adoption of unified tooling across diverse teams
- Experience implementing enterprise observability solutions (metrics, logging, tracing) and effective alerting systems
- Demonstrated success in AWS cost‑optimization and financial management
- Infrastructure‑as‑Code expertise using Terraform, Ansible, Python, and Shell scripting
- Hands‑on experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes, AWS EKS/ECS)
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, AWS CodePipeline, GitLab CI) in 24x7 production environments
- Solid understanding of Site Reliability Engineering principles, error budgets, and chaos engineering
- Linux and Windows server administration, plus networking fundamentals (DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, SSH, etc.)
- Experience with compliance frameworks (NIST, SOC 2, SOX, FedRAMP) and risk management
- Excellent communication and influencing skills to collaborate with cross‑functional teams
- AWS Solutions Architect Professional certification (preferred)
- FinOps certification or demonstrated expertise in cloud financial management (preferred)
- Experience with AIOps or ML‑driven anomaly detection (preferred)
- Experience architecting multi‑region or hybrid cloud environments (preferred)
- Background in IoT platforms and edge computing architectures (preferred)
