The Fire Alarm Technician is responsible for operation, maintenance, and repair of fire alarm, mass notification, and fire suppression systems, including ANSUL wet chemical systems, backflow prevention, and fire hydrant testing, in accordance with NFPA standards. Reporting to the Fire Alarm Technician Lead, the role works within a team of professionals supporting base operations.
The technician inspects, tests, maintains, repairs, and replaces fire alarm and mass notification systems across the base, ensuring functionality per applicable standards and manufacturer instructions. Functional operation tests confirm compliance with Unified Facility Codes, NFPA standards, and manufacturer guidelines. Technical work involves interpreting instrument readings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and employing appropriate test equipment while adhering to safety, environmental, and management policies. Design reviews verify NFPA and building specifications are met, and a preventative maintenance plan is followed with thorough record keeping.

- Maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment free of dust, clutter, and trash.
- Participate in a documented training program and maintain required certifications.
- Safeguard all government and contractor property, including equipment and tools.
- Accurately complete time reporting procedures and submit timesheets.
- Maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance and obtain Air Force flight line driver’s license and access badge upon deployment.
- Complete online and hands‑on CBRN defense training with protective gear fit testing.

Candidates must hold NICET Level I certification for fire alarm work and meet UFC 4‑021‑01 qualifications for mass notification technicians. Required credentials include a valid U.S. passport, driver's license (manual transmission), and an active U.S. Secret security clearance, with additional Air Force flight‑line licensing and access upon deployment. Applicants must successfully complete CBRN defense training, pass comprehensive health and background screenings, and possess direct experience managing fire alarm, mass notification, and suppression system maintenance. One year of related experience may substitute for one year of education if a degree is required.
