The Maintenance Technician is responsible for installing, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on mechanical equipment throughout the plant, working with hand and power tools and mobile equipment. The role supports plant operations by ensuring equipment reliability and safety.
Work includes servicing pumps, motors, blowers, conveyor systems, and tank cars, as well as interpreting drawings, welding, pipe and gasket repairs, and fabricating steel and piping components. The technician also performs safety‑critical tasks such as removing nuclear sources, using hoists and lifts, and wearing protective harnesses and respirators.
- Install, repair, and maintain all mechanical equipment in the plant.
- Operate hand and power tools, hoists, vices, grinders, and mobile equipment such as Broderson crane, forklift, electric pallet jack, boom truck, and dollies.
- Service pumps, motors, blowers, conveyor systems, and tank cars, including removal of plugs, caps, and nuclear sources.
- Read and interpret maps and drawings to execute welding, pipe, gasket, and steel fabrication work.
- Repair steam leaks, handle propane tanks, and safely lift or lower pipe and equipment using harnesses and respirators.
- Conduct preventative maintenance checks and support plant shutdowns.
